NECHEAR is a unique rehabilitation facility established in 1999 with the mission to meet the needs of infants, children, and adults with hearing loss and their families using a team approach. Through aggressive auditory management, adults and children learn to maximize auditory access with the help of rehabilitative device programming. In this family-friendly environment, auditory-verbal techniques are used to facilitate the acquisition of spoken language, with the goal of full integration into communities. To meet this mission, we offer a variety of home-based, clinic-based, and school-based services.
HISTORY
NECHEAR was created with the mission of helping children with hearing loss and their families, including those with cochlear implants, become fully participating members of their community. This goal is met through audiolgoical testing and fitting children with optimal devices as early as possible to allow access to speech and language and immediate enrollment into intervention that facilitates the development of listening and spoken language. Our aggressive approach to intervention is aimed at preparing children to enter educational setting with normal hearing peers as early as possible.
